UPCOMING PROJECTS

OUR REGULAR DATA MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT OFTEN BRINGS IN THE WISDOM THAT EVENTUALLY INFLUENCES US TO CONTINUE REACH-OUT TO THE UNREACHED WITH RELEVANT PROJECTS CATERING TO SPECIFIC TARGET GROUPS WITH A TIME-BOUND AND A MEASURABLE APPROACH. THIS YEAR IMCARES PLANS TO LAUNCH TWO NEW PROJECTS

PROJECT SWABHIMAN

A SKILL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY IN HANDICRAFT WORK AIMED AT EMPOWERING AND BUILDING CAPACITIES OF PERSONS UNDER IMCARES REHABILITATION PLAN TO LIVE A LIFE OF DIGNITY.

Most of the people that IMCARES serves are often uneducated and have lacked opportunities to develop their skills. Living on the streets and in unimaginable abusive circumstances has made them into strong personalities and they have the potential to survive in the most difficult situations. Once rehabilitated, there is always an open door for them to go back to their old ways of survival like begging or prostitution. They often crave to have dignified alternatives but due to lack of such opportunities they may often continue to be dragged into a vicious cycle of poverty, slavery, abuse and deprivation.

‘Swabhiman’ in Hindi language means ‘dignity’ or ‘self-worth’. The project will be started in Mumbai and will be a place where people cared for and rehabilitated through IMCARES and other charities will get opportunity for skill development in handicraft work. We plan to start with quilting and patchwork. The participants in this programme, after receiving training will be able to make a modest earning by selling the articles they make.

PROJECT VISHRANTI

A PLACE OF REST AND RECOVERY FOR THE ELDERLY DESTITUTE FOUND AND CARED BY IMCARES PROJECTS.

There are countless number of homeless poor living in the cities of Mumbai and Pune. Some of the worst sufferers are the elderly. Amongst the elderly some are those who have lived all their lives on the streets, some are those who have chosen to leave their homes due to atrocities they had to face at the hands of their grown-up children and some are those who have been literally dumped by their own children. Many of these elderly and homeless people are seen begging on the streets and waiting for some passerby to feed them. Their feeble bodies often with untreated infections barely manage to take care of their own hygiene and safety. At this age where they should get their due respect, they are abused emotionally and even physically. While IMCARES has been very actively involved caring for the homeless poor of all ages suffering from sicknesses, long-term care of the elderly has always been a challenge. There is also a dearth of good shelters for the homeless poor, let alone for the elderly. Thus Project Vishranti has been on the mind of all those involved within IMCARES ministry to the poor.

The word Vishranti, in Marathi language means rest. In tune with IMCARES objective of bringing Welfare, Wellbeing and Wholesomeness to the marginalised poor, the project Vishranti situated in the Agape Village campus at Paud-Pune aims to be a place of rest and solace to the homeless and destitute elderly people. Once at the project Vishranti, they wont be destitute any more and no longer they have to suffer the challenges of being homeless. The beneficiaries will enjoy all the things that they rightfully deserve like good nutrition, a dignified home, meaningful activities, medical treatment and moreover a family of peers and volunteers.
